Growing Minds is a preventative and proactive program that addresses PBIS Tier 1 behavior, which usually includes 80-90% of students. All students in a classroom are able to participate in our classes. Our curriculum addresses the need to reduce stress and promote self-awareness, self-regulation skills and pro-social behavior. Our philosophy is “practice in low stress environments so that these skills are available in high stress environments.”
Our outcomes, that have been derived through statistically significant research, include better focus and concentration amongst the students, increased empathy for others in the classroom and calmer students and teachers, both physically and emotionally. Other benefits which support academic goals include more teaching time resulting from fewer class disruptions, calmer transitions to and from the classroom and fewer conflicts between students.
